Whitsand Bay Fort is a collection of lodges in southeast Cornwall. They overlook the gorgeous Whitsand Bay, which is known for its high clifftops, its lengthy beach and its dramatic coastal scenery. The resort is so-called because it stands on the grounds of an old fort that was used to defend the area from the French Navy during the era of Napoleon. A lot of care has been taken to preserve the ruins and other historic features that are scattered throughout the site.

The lodges here are spacious and stylish. They’re well furnished throughout and have tasteful decor. Each one is full of charm and has all the amenities you could need for a comfortable, hassle-free stay. The layout is open-plan and outside there’s a private decking area where you can unwind in the fresh air. Whichever lodge you stay in, you’ll have picturesque views of the coast to take in. The resort is particularly quiet, so you’ll be able to relax and unwind to your heart’s content.

While staying at Whitsand Bay Fort, you’re well placed for exploring Cornwall and discovering its many worthwhile attractions. The resort is on a peninsula with an abundance of beaches, coastal walking trails and historic remains – be sure to visit Polhawn Fort and Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park. Further afield, there’s the lively and vibrant city of Plymouth and north of it is Dartmoor National Park. Throughout Cornwall you’ll find charming seaside settlements, lots of nature-based attractions and plenty of scenic spots. Discover independent shops and make the most of the many water sports and water-based activities that Cornwall has to offer.
