Chester Zoo

Enjoy a wild day out at Chester Zoo. Chester Cathedral

A must-see attraction in the city, Chester Cathedral is a beautiful medieval cathedral built in 1902. The cathedral is open for visitors where you can enjoy guided tours, take a trip to the tower – voted as one of the best things to do in Chester! Climb the 216 steps to the top of the tower where you can enjoy panoramic views of the city. There is also a cafe and shop to enjoy on your visit.

Gulliver’s World Theme Park

Fun for the whole family, Gulliver’s World Theme Park has a great selection of attractions that are perfect for your little ones ages 2 to 13. Part of Gulliver’s World Resort, the theme park has 27 rides including a wooden roller coaster, dodgems, log flume and observation tower. There are also fun attractions and experiences including climbing walls, themed play areas, walkways, crazy golf and more!

Tatton Park

Known as one of the most complete historic estates in the UK, Tatton Park is a beautiful place to visit in Cheshire. Home to a Tudor Old Hall, 18th-century mansion, 1,000 acres of parkland including 50 acres of landscaped gardens, a working farm and special events throughout the year and plenty of opportunities to enjoy local food and drink products in the Gardener’s Cottage, gift shop and Housekeeper’s Store.

Gritstone Trail

The Gritstone Trail, also known as the Cheshire Gritstone Trail is a 35-mile footpath perfect for long-distance walks. The trail follows the hills in the west of the Peak District providing scenic views throughout. For keen walkers, the trail is fun to split over 3 days, or you can join at any point to enjoy a shorter walk.

Chester City Walls

Explore the Roman city of Chester via the city walls. The walls are a historical landmark built as a defensive structure built to protect the city by the Romans – some parts are almost 2000 years old. The Chester city walls are the oldest, longest and most complete in Britain and a great way to explore the city.

BeWILDerwood

BeWILDerwood is a fun adventure park in Cheshire. It is an award-winning forest packed full of family fun including treehouses, treetop wires and slopes, zip wires, giant swings, bridges, mazes, walking trails, live entertainment and much more. Perfect for the whole family, BeWILDerwood is a fun day out full of adventure, magic and imagination. The adventure park is based on the magical books by author Tom Blofeld and is a fantastic way for children to explore and learn.

Delamere Forest

Delamere Forest is a large vast woodland covering over 972 hectares making it the largest area of woodland in the county of Cheshire. Enjoy scenic walks through the forest with views of the evergreen trees and marsh and fen wetlands where you can relax, unwind and make the most of the fresh air. Southwest of Manchester, Delamere Forest is a beautiful place to visit all year round.

Chester Racecourse

Chester Racecourse is the world’s oldest racecourse that is still in operation located in the heart of the historic city. The racecourse dates back to 1539 when racing first began. Although it is one of the smallest in England, it is a popular place for visitors to enjoy a day out at the races. The racecourse holds events throughout the year including festivals and themed days.

Lyme Park

Lyme Park is a magnificent mansion house and estate located on the edge of the Peak District. Surrounded by beautiful gardens and a deer park, this is a lovely place to visit for scenic days out. With stunning scenery all year round, visitors can enjoy autumn walks, festive events, Spring walks through the blooming gardens and family fun in the summer. There are over 6 decades of history to discover in the exhibits including the Lyme Missal – the most important printed book in the National Trust.
